HELP SUPPORT FAITH FORMATION FAMILIES AND YOUNG CHILDREN!

To help support families and young children, St. Charles will have faith-based books and quiet toys available during Mass. If you would like to contribute to this project, you are welcome to purchase items from this wish list. The items may also be used for faith formation classes.

This program is for children who are aged 3, 4, or Transitional Kindergarten (TK) 5 years old. The program focus is on the theme: "Each child is a special creation of a loving God". Children must be age 3 by September 2nd of the current school year, and not yet in kindergarten. 

Begins September 14, 2025

This program is designed to give young people the opportunity to encounter Christ in their lives through instruction, prayer, service, and participation in the Liturgy. We have NEW instructional curriculum: for Kindergarten - “Allelu!” and for Grade 1 to 5 is the “Alive in Christ” series by OSV.

Classes are on Tuesday afternoon, Tuesday night & Wednesday afternoon

Begins September 9 & 10, 2025

    • Tuesday Afternoon Classes - 3:45 p.m.-5:00 p.m. (Kindergarten-5th)

    • Tuesday Night Classes - 6:15 p.m.-7:30 p.m. (1st-5th, no Kindergarten)

    • Wednesday Afternoon Classes - 4:30 p.m.-5:45 p.m. (Kindergarten-5th)

Order of Christian Initiation of Children

Sacrament Preparation Program is a family-focused program for children receiving First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.

Sessions are held on Monday evenings from 5:15pm-6:30pm and families will attend the sessions together.  

Requirements: Children entering First Reconciliation & First Eucharist preparation must have 1-year prior participation in Children's Faith Formation Program (only 1st-5th grade) and concurrent enrollment during Year 2 in grade level Faith Formation class.  Children must attend Faith Formation classes regularly and must attend a minimum of 75% of the classes to be counted for Year 1.  Children must complete the Sacrament of First Reconciliation before receiving the Sacrament of First Eucharist.  A copy of the child's baptismal certificate is also required.  

Parent Information Meeting Date - September 22, 2025, 5:30pm-6:45pm in the Hall

  • First Reconciliation - commonly known as confession, or the Sacrament of Penance, is open to children who are also preparing to receive their first Holy Communion. The importance of becoming sensitive to right and wrong and making responsible choices begins at an early age. * Begins October 6, 2025

  • First Eucharist - commonly called First Holy Communion and celebrates the real presence of Christ in the bread, wine, and gathered community. It marks an important milestone in a child's life: their first opportunity to receive the Body and Blood of Christ. First Holy Communion is the second of the three Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism and Confirmation) which complete an individual's membership to the Catholic Community. * Begins February 23, 2026

 

Order of Christian Initiation of Children is for 7 years of age up to 11 years of age, who have not been baptized or baptized in another denomination or baptized, uncatechized Catholics, and desire initiation into the Catholic Church, can enroll in the Children's Catechumenate.

Requirements: Children entering OCIC preparation must have 1-year prior participation in Children's Faith Formation Program (only 1st-5th grade) and concurrent enrollment during Year 2 in grade level Faith Formation class.  Children must attend Faith Formation classes regularly and must attend a minimum of 75% of the classes to be counted for Year one.  If already baptized, a copy of the child's baptismal certificate is also required.  

Children will participate in 6 Sunday Sacrament Program with Deacon Dave.

Begins February 1, 2026
