St. Charles Social Concerns Committee

Lenten Collection Details

One of the many important activities of the St. Charles Social Concerns Committee (SCC) is to sponsor the Lenten Collections starting on Ash Wednesday and continuing through Holy Thursday. Parishioners can donate much-needed funding to the organizations supported by the SCC. 100% of your donation will support these agencies and directly benefit people most in need.

Receiving your support in 2025 through the Lenten Collections are:

  • March 5
    Ash Wednesday

    St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at St. Michaels Parish, Livermore, CA                                      https://stmichaellivermore.com/svdp
    Cash donations are most appreciated. Additional needs include family-size food items, dry beans, rice, canned chili, and other canned goods, bread, peanut butter, jam, canned tuna, spam, canned chicken, and toiletries as well as gift cards to Target or Walmart.


  •  March 8-9

    1st Sunday of Lent

    Culinary Angels, Livermore

    CASH is needed to provide nutrient-rich meals free-of-charge to people going through a cancer challenge, as well as to their caregivers throughout the Tri-Valley area.

     

  • March 15-16
    2nd Sunday of Lent
    Tri-Valley Haven

    CASH or Gift Cards (food stores/Target/Wal-Mart/Ross); BART/Bus tickets. Especially needed are diapers size 3-6, flour & sugar 2-5Lb; cooking oil 32oz; juice 32oz; family-size peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti sauce, canned corn, coffee, and canned goods: vegetables, fruit, meat, soup, beans, chili, dry goods, such as rice, beans nuts, cereal, raisins and pasta.

  • March 22-23

    3rd Sunday of Lent
    One Nation Dream Makers, Livermore

    CASH donations are most appreciated. The money will go to the most urgent needs.

  •  March 29-30

    4th Sunday of Lent

  •  April 5-6
    5th Sunday of Lent
    Interfaith Sharing Food Pantry, Livermore

    Family-size non-perishables: Peanut butter, honey, oatmeal, cereal, powdered milk, cereal bars, canned fruit, canned tuna, lunch box juices, rice, plastic jars of jam & jelly, mayonnaise, pasta sauce,1-lb. packages of spaghetti, macaroni, dry pinto/black beans, cooking oil, coffee, Hamburger/Tuna Helper.

  • April 12-13
    Palm Sunday
    Oakland Catholic Worker, Oakland

    CASH donations to support the most urgent needs. Additionally, there is a need for diapers and Clipper Cards for transportation.

  • April 17
    Holy Thursday
    Goodness Village, Livermore

    To support their many home renovation projects, they have a need for Gift cards to Lowes, Target, Home Depot, and Walmart. CASH donations are also appreciated.

●     Drop off requested items, cash, or checks before or after Masses

●     Make checks payable to St. Charles and memo Lenten Collections or agency name. (If an agency is not specified, cash and checks designated for “Lenten Collections” will be divided equally among the eight agencies.)
