Funerals at St Charles…

We grieve, but not as those without hope.

When the life journey of a parishioner comes to an earthly end, St. Charles Borromeo parish walks with the family and friends through the sacred traditions that are found in the Catholic funeral rites. Our staff and the members of the Funeral and Grief Support Ministries are available to guide and assist the family along this path.

To arrange for a funeral, please begin by contacting the parish office, 925-447-4549. The Funeral Coordinator will contact you to arrange a meeting at the parish. The meeting will cover the details of the funeral such as selection of readings, music, and participants. Referrals will be made for planning a reception at the parish, if desired. Receptions are managed by the office staff.

Please know that funerals are not held on Sundays. Saturday availability is limited due to parish events and activities. Weekdays are most widely available.

Grief Support

Parish Grief Support Ministers are experienced volunteers who understand how difficult this time can be. They are happy to speak with you at any point in the grieving process. More information on this ministry can be found here.

1 Peter 1:3-5:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power for the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

John 11:25-26:

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies. And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Prayer:

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
