Chat Ministry Team Leader Job Description
We are looking for a Chat Ministry Team Leader to coordinate our Chat Ministry Team. The purpose of our Chat Ministry Team is to act as a digital porch light to those who are anxious, vulnerable, and are seeking help, support, prayer, and/or encouragement. The Chat Ministry Team provides this support through online conversation via text and email. These online conversations are guided by Chat Ministry Team Members’ personal stories of Jesus’s gifts of peace, love, joy, and healing as a vessel of connection and hope. These testimonies are pivotal in the way we communicate and give the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Chat Ministry Team Leader Responsibilities:
Coordinate a Chat Ministry Team
The primary responsibility of a Chat Ministry Team Leader is coordinating a team of Chat Ministry Members. The Chat Ministry Team Leader oversees Chat Ministry Team Member schedules and ensures team is adequately staffed during peak times. Additionally, a Chat Ministry Team Leader also answers team members’ questions and provides advice.
Oversee Quality Assurance
the Chat Ministry Team Leader monitor Chat Ministry Member performance and note areas for improvement, using an evaluation rubric and then discussing directly with the team member.
Review and Resolve Escalations — 1st Line of Escalation
If a Chat Ministry Team Member is unable to resolve a seeker’s question, they will escalate the conversation to the Chat Ministry Team Leader. The Team Leader then identifies a solution to the seeker's inquiry or directs them to the Communications Manager to assist.
Provide Direct Seeker Support
On occasion, the Chat Ministry Team Leader may need to respond directly to a seeker during the team’s busiest times.
Support Process Improvement Pull Data
The Chat Ministry Team Leader will improve overall ministry efficiency and performance by identifying opportunities to enhance internal processes. They may gather data related to seeker contact and interactions and use this data to prepare reports and analyses of which processes are working and which can be improved.
Oversee Training
The Chat Ministry Team Leader will train new Chat Ministry Members. This training will include reviewing online materials and conducts conversation role plays with new team members. Additionally, the Team Leader will monitor new Team Members’ activities and performance during the first few weeks of training and on-boarding to determine where further training is needed. The Team Leader may also assist with the development of training materials.
The Chat Ministry Team Leader will work closely with the Communications Manager & Social Media Ministry Leader
Chat Ministry Team Leader Requirements:
Experience in Customer Support or something similar in a parish setting
Availability to work on-call if needed
Can multitask well and is highly organized
The ability to ability to shift-gears when working on projects
The ability to adapt to a growing and evolving team
The ability to work independently and remotely
Has a deep desire to share the Good News of Jesus Christ through digital means
Has a strong prayer life
Excellent communication skills
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
Proficient in online communicating
Must have access to a computer
Chat Ministry Team Leader Bonus Qualification (but not required):
Has been in a Customer Support Lead position before or something similar
